Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), have praised the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for his efforts in preserving Yoruba cultural heritage. This commendation came as the Ooni celebrates his 50th birthday.
President Bola Tinubu also joined in the celebration, issuing a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga. The President highlighted Oba Ogunwusi’s extraordinary leadership and his significant role in maintaining the rich traditions of the Yoruba people since he ascended the throne at the age of 41.
Adeleke and Fashola, in their separate messages, acknowledged the Ooni’s deep sense of duty, wisdom, and knowledge. They praised his contributions as Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, where he has been a unifying figure and a steadfast supporter of government policies.
The Ooni’s tireless advocacy for women and youth empowerment through education and entrepreneurship was also commended. His philanthropic efforts and commitment to uplifting those in need across Nigeria and beyond were highlighted as well.
As the Ooni marks this significant milestone, both Adeleke and Fashola, along with President Tinubu, expressed their heartfelt optimism and support, paying tribute to the Ooni for exemplifying traditional Yoruba values of humility, peace, and generosity.
