For Abia State, di All Progressives Congress (APC) don come out strong to dey yarn say dem go deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for di 2027 presidential election. Di party Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, talk dis matter for Umuahia on Monday, March 23, 2026. Aguoru yarn say APC get strong structure for Abia wey go make dem win all positions, including governorship, and deliver 80-90% votes for Tinubu re-election.
Di APC man dey respond to one claim wey one aide to Governor Alex Otti dey make, say di governor dey support Tinubu. Aguotor call dat claim “desperate and deceptive tactic” wey Governor Otti dey use because im political future no dey bright. According to di APC, Otti chances for re-election dey below 30%, even with all di social media noise wey im people dey make.
“Governor Otti and im party openly reject di outcome of di 2023 presidential election before. Dem even refuse to put President Tinubu portrait for government offices. Im supporters dey always attack Mr. President and im policies for social media. We get intelligence say dis attacks dey sponsored by Otti government,” Aguoru yarn.
Di APC man compare Otti to honest Governors like Charles Soludo of Anambra State wey don clearly declare support for Tinubu. Aguoru talk say Otti no dey give Tinubu recognition for federal projects wey dey happen for Abia State. “Dis sudden support na just desperate move because im know say im no dey popular again. We advise President Tinubu to ignore am. APC for Abia get grassroots support and structure wey go deliver votes,” im add.
For im own side, one prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, don talk say President Tinubu know say APC no fit get 20% votes for free and fair election. Olawepo-Hashim yarn dis one for Channels Television Sunday Politics programme. Im talk say APC fear to conduct transparent election because dem know say dem no popular.
“If APC get about 32 governors, why dem dey fear to transmit results from polling units to IReV? Dem dey fear because dem know say for free and fair election, APC no go score 20% of di vote. Tinubu don do polls, im know di truth,” Olawepo-Hashim talk. Im maintain say PDP remain di most competitive party for Nigeria, even with all di internal wahala.
Di PDP chieftain talk say political defections wey dey happen na because Nigerian political elite dey greedy and want to dey where power dey. “When governors jump to another party, grassroots no dey necessarily follow dem. Di grassroots dey more honest,” im yarn. Olawepo-Hashim warn say anybody wey dey celebrate collapse of multi-party democracy for Nigeria need make dem knock im head.
For di 2023 presidential election, INEC declare Tinubu as winner with 8.79 million votes (36.61%). Atiku Abubakar of PDP get 6.98 million votes (29.07%), Peter Obi of Labour Party get 6.10 million votes (25.40%), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of NNPP get 1.49 million votes (6.23%). Tinubu win at least 25% of votes for 30 states, meeting constitutional requirement.
As of March 2026, preparation for 2027 election don start. Tinubu don get endorsement from APC leaders to run again. Opposition politicians dey discuss how to form coalition to challenge am. Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso don hold talks about working together. Atiku Abubakar still remain key opposition figure. Some people dey speculate say former President Goodluck Jonathan fit run. Other names wey people dey mention include Rotimi Amaechi and Seyi Makinde.
Since 2023, APC don gain more strength and now dey control 31 out of 36 states. Many governors and lawmakers don defect from PDP and other parties join APC. Di political landscape dey change as 2027 dey approach, with both ruling and opposition parties dey strategize for what go be tough contest.
Di Abia APC boast and di PDP counter-claim show how di political temperature dey rise for Nigeria. While APC dey talk say dem go deliver massive votes for Tinubu for Abia, PDP dey insist say ruling party popularity dey low and dem dey fear free election. Di coming months go show which side get correct analysis as political activities dey increase ahead of 2027.
