Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State don announce one new palliative measure wey go affect all workers for di state. Dis money na as petrol and transport support to cushion di effect of rising fuel prices for di country.
Makinde explain say di initiative go run for at least three months, but e fit extend if di economic condition no improve. Di governor also hint say people wey no dey work for state government fit still benefit from di intervention. “Dem wey no dey work for Oyo State government fit still benefit from am. We go handle am well make e dey all-inclusive,” Makinde add.
As di governor dey prepare to round off im administration, e emphasize say im dey focus on continuity of impactful policies. “As I dey near di end of my administration, one of di things wey dey my mind na to make sure say good things continue,” Makinde tok.
Meanwhile, political activities don dey hot for Oyo State as 2027 governorship election dey approach. For di All Progressives Congress (APC) side, di Southwest APC Mandate Group don declare support for Prince Kola Asatola Asanike as dia preferred candidate for di party primaries. Di group, through im publicity secretary Comrade Olugbenga Bojuwomi, issue statement for Ibadan say Asanike get di pedigree to win di party ticket.
Di group describe Asanike as man of integrity, humility, and vision wey don pay im dues as committed party faithful from im days as youth leader for NADECO. Dem highlight im royal heritage, global exposure, and im work for U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission where billions of transactions pass under im watch without fraud. Di group don contact party leaders for Oyo State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek support for Asanike.
“Prince Asanike represent di future of Oyo State, one future wey go build on integrity, grassroots governance, and empowerment of common people,” di group add. Dem urge stakeholders to rally behind Asanike, describing am as “mandate for transformation” wey im ideals resonate with ordinary people.
For di Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) side, Governor Makinde Advisory Council (GAC) don invite all governorship aspirants wey dey contest under PDP to appear before dem for interaction. Di council chairman, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, explain say di meeting na to create level playing field for aspirants to present dia ideas and visions ahead of primary election.
Some of di aspirants wey don appear before di council include Adedeji Olajide (Odidiomo), Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Bimbo Adekanmbi, Debo Akande and Debo Ogundoyin. Ayorinde tok say di exercise no be screening but interaction to know di plans aspirants get for di state. E confirm say nine aspirants don meet with di council by Saturday close.
“E no be screening exercise. E na interaction between Governor Advisory Council and di aspirants. We no want make any form of imposition come from any quarter,” Ayorinde explain. E add say di governor go still engage other stakeholders like party chieftains and traditional rulers before candidate go emerge.
Di council chairman emphasize say dem no get power to disqualify any aspirant, as dia work na to offer advice to di governor as listening leader wey want free and fair process. Political observers say di moves by both APC and PDP show say di race for Oyo State Government House don begin early, with various interests jostling for position as Makinde administration dey wind down.
