Na serious wahala dey for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as two governors wey remain for di party don show say dem no dey same page about how to move forward. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed don talk different things about reconciliation for di party.
Makinde wey visit Bauchi yesterday warn say anybody wey dey deal with Nyesom Wike and him group na dem dey support President Bola Tinubu for 2027 election. “I don talk before say I meet Wike and Mr President, and e promise to hold PDP for Mr President towards 2027,” Makinde yarn. “So, anybody wey dey deal with Wike and him group… e mean say you don agree to support President Tinubu for 2027.”
But Governor Bala Mohammed talk different thing entirely. As e dey host Makinde for Bauchi, Mohammed talk say reconciliation no be wetin dem call, but na court wey midwife am. E still dey hope say dem fit still settle di differences wey dey. Di wahala dey between di AbdulRaman Muhammad-led National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) wey Wike dey support and di Tanimu Turaki-led group.
As if dat one no enough, Makinde still visit New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Kwankwaso for Kano. Kwankwaso sef don visit Makinde office for Ibadan two weeks ago after e inaugurate him party secretariat. After di meeting for Kano, both Makinde and Kwankwaso no talk to journalists.
Kwankwaso don already host former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and Senator Seriake Dickson wey recently jump from PDP go one of di two new parties wey INEC register, di Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). Big PDP members like former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi and former Information Minister Jerry Gana dey hold meetings to try reconcile di Turaki group with di NCWC.
Di main work wey dem get na to build consensus before di party national convention wey go hold for Abuja from March 29 to 30. Di reconciliation talks become possible after Court of Appeal judgment wey cancel di November 2025 convention for Ibadan wey produce di Turaki-led national working committee. Di court decision just hand over di party to di AbdulRaman Muhammad-led NCWC.
Meanwhile, Peter Obi continue him nationwide consultations with visit to Kaduna State where e meet party stakeholders and members. During di visit, Obi meet with key political figures like Ahmed Tijjani (gubernatorial hopeful) and Lawal Adamu (Senator for Kaduna Central). Obi talk say him interactions show say stakeholders get genuine desire to serve people and contribute to rebuilding Nigeria.
Obi describe Kaduna as strategic state wey get historical significance as symbol of unity and coexistence, plus e be major hub for industry, agriculture, and commerce. E talk say with disciplined, competent, and people-oriented leadership, di state fit regain im lost glory for benefit of all Nigerians.
As 2027 dey come, PDP dey face serious test wey go determine if dem fit still be strong opposition party or if di party go scatter finish. Di meeting between Makinde and Kwankwaso dey make many people wonder if PDP leaders dey look for alternative platform for 2027 elections.
Political analysts dey watch di situation with keen interest as di March convention dey approach. Di ability of PDP to settle internal crisis go affect Nigeria political landscape for 2027 elections. Many Nigerians dey wait to see if di once dominant party fit bounce back or if di current wahala go finish di party completely.
