One big man for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, don yarn say de ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) no go fit score even 20 percent for any election wey dey free and fair. Dis one come as im dey talk for Channels Television Sunday Politics programme. Olawepo-Hashim wey be former presidential candidate talk say President Bola Tinubu no be mumu man, and im sabi say APC no go win if election dey transparent.
“All de people wey dey do propaganda fit dey celebrate President Tinubu as strategist, but im no be fool. Im don do polls, and im know say for free and fair election, APC no go score 20 percent of vote,” Olawepo-Hashim yarn. Im ask say if APC get about 32 governors like dem dey boast, why dem no dey happy to organise free and fair elections? “Dem suppose dey happy to transmit results from polling units to IReV. Why dem dey fear if PDP don die?”
De PDP chieftain argue say de ruling party dey fear full electoral transparency because dem no get real popularity for ground. “If opposition don die and dem don bury am, why dem dey fear free and fair elections? APC dey fear. PDP na de most competitive party, and na dat one make dem dey try to destroy PDP. People wey believe say PDP don scatter, na dem get wahala for head,” de former presidential candidate talk.
Olawepo-Hashim maintain say even inside APC sef, dem get plenty wahala wey fit weak dem before 2027 elections. “Even for dem party, dem sabi people wey dey wait to bite dem from back. Dem get more issues pass PDP,” im add. De PDP chieftain talk say political defections wey dey happen na because Nigerian political elite dey greedy and dem want to dey where dey chop money, but grassroots no dey follow like dat.
“Nigerian political elite dey very greedy. Dem want to stay where de pie dey. But grassroots dey more honest. When governors jump, grassroots no dey necessarily follow,” im state. Olawepo-Hashim warn say nobody suppose dey celebrate if opposition parties dey weak for Nigeria democracy. “Anybody wey dey celebrate collapse of multi-party democracy, dem suppose knock dem head. Wetin PDP need na joint NEC and convention, no be factions,” im note.
De PDP chieftain talk say im party dey witness ‘huge digital registration’ wey show say PDP no don finish. Dis statement come as political temperature dey rise for Nigeria ahead of 2027 general elections. Political analysts dey watch how dis kind talk go affect de relationship between de two major parties for country.
