Professor Muhammad Ibrahim, wey be Vice Chancellor for the university, yarn am say na ahead of convocation ceremony wey go hold for Saturday. Him talk say the money wey NELFUND bring na part of Federal Government plan to make education better for Nigeria. E dey help students wey no get money to continue their schooling.
As dem dey share the loan money, the university sef dey prepare to graduate 4,109 students. Na second combined convocation ceremony dem go hold. Professor Ibrahim break down the results: 154 students go collect First Class, 1,326 go get Second Class Upper, 1,954 go collect Second Class Lower. For Third Class, 649 students dey there, and 26 go graduate with Pass.
The VC talk say the results show say teaching standard don improve for the school. Him yarn about other achievements wey the university don record. Dem don build new classrooms, student hostels, library, and even roads. Research centres don comot, and dem dey work on ICT infrastructure. Meanwhile, for Abuja, Vice-President Kashim Shettima talk say Nigeria don comot from economic wahala. Him yarn am at event wey Goodluck Jonathan Foundation organize. Shettima, through him Special Adviser Dr Aliyu Modibo, talk say Tinubu administration reforms don bring stability. Him mention NELFUND as one of the interventions wey dey help Nigerians.
For another side, group wey dem call Progressives Network for Tinubu dey beg Nigerians to vote President Bola Tinubu again for 2027. Olumide Obadele, wey be director-general for the group, talk say Tinubu don do well with policies like fuel subsidy removal and floating naira. But as NELFUND dey work, small wahala dey. Akintunde Sawyerr, wey be Managing Director of NELFUND, talk say some schools no get strong IT system. This one dey slow down how dem dey share the loan money. Him talk say if school data no correct, student no go fit apply. Some students sef no apply for upkeep allowance wey be N20,000 every month.
Sawyerr yarn say repayment no dey hard. After NYSC, employer go dey deduct 10 percent from salary until loan finish. E no dey collect interest. But him talk say some regions no dey collect loan well. For North, dem dey collect am because poverty dey. South-West sef dem like am because education important for dem. But for South-East, many no dey like to borrow money, even if e no get interest.
As NELFUND dey grow, students for Jigawa and other states dey see hope. With over N195 million wey don reach Sule Lamido University, many fit continue their education without too much stress. Government dey try, but schools need to improve their systems to make things faster.
