JAMB Tightens 2027 UTME Centres, Names Five Mistakes Wey Fit Scatter Candidates’ Admission

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) don set tougher conditions for computer-based test centres wey go host the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), warning say any centre wey no meet di required standards go lose accreditation.

JAMB tok say only centres with adequate facilities, reliable infrastructure and operational capacity to guarantee credible and hitch-free exam go get approval to host candidates for di 2027 exercise.

Di Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, give di indication during one meeting with leadership of Chief External Examiners. Di meeting review preparations and readiness for di accreditation exercise ahead of di 2027 UTME, and na part of efforts to strengthen exam administration and make sure centres follow operational standards.

JAMB explain say di accreditation exercise go serve as critical screening mechanism to stop centres wey no get enough equipment from participating. Di aim na to protect candidates from avoidable disruptions and compromising exam conditions.

Di Board state say only centres wey meet its standards go host di examination, and for candidates, dat mean fair and secure place to sit UTME wherever dem write am. JAMB add say di move show determination to strengthen UTME credibility by making sure candidates, no matter where dem dey write, get secure, reliable and conducive testing environment.

JAMB also warn prospective 2027 UTME candidates against five recurring mistakes wey don dey affect exam performance and admission outcomes. Di board urge candidates to start addressing di issues before registration opens, no wait until exam date near.

Di first mistake na late study. JAMB note say many candidates only start serious revision few weeks before exam, leaving dem little time to cover full syllabus or practise past questions on difficult topics. Di board advise candidates to build consistent reading routine and draw realistic study timetable early.

Di second mistake na registering for UTME without first confirming admission requirements of preferred courses and institutions. JAMB tell candidates to research institutions, identify courses dem really want to study and confirm required O’level credits before registration.

Di third mistake na choosing wrong UTME subject combination. JAMB say dis one fit make candidate ineligible for admission even if di person score well. Di board point candidates to Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) at ibass.jamb.gov.ng to check correct subjects for each course.

Di fourth mistake na failure to follow official JAMB updates. JAMB warn say missing announcements on registration deadlines, exam schedules or procedural changes fit cause unnecessary complications. Candidates suppose check www.jamb.gov.ng regularly and monitor di board verified communication channels.

Di fifth mistake na inaccurate personal information during registration. JAMB say errors in names, dates of birth, National Identification Number (NIN) details or phone numbers fit cause verification problems during registration and admission processing. Di board advise candidates to cross-check all personal details against official records before going to accredited registration centre, and review every entry before submitting form.

JAMB stress say success in 2027 UTME depend on more than classroom preparation, as informed decision-making, correct documentation and consistent attention to official guidance all play part.
