APC don resume e-registration for members, Kwankwaso join ADC

Na serious political movement dey happen for Nigeria as two big events shake di political scene. Di ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) don announce say dem don resume electronic membership registration nationwide. Dis one come dey happen same time as former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso don decamp from New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) join African Democratic Congress (ADC).

For Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka release statement say di e-registration exercise don resume for all wards and designated locations across di country. Di party dey urge existing members wey don register before to validate dia membership, while new members wey wan join dey encouraged to register. According to di statement, anybody wey wan register must be 18 years or older and must get valid National Identification Number (NIN).

Di party say dis go help ensure integrity of records, make access to membership data better for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen di party commitment to democratic innovation for Nigeria. Meanwhile, for Kano, political temperature don rise as Kwankwaso officially join ADC. Di event wey hold yesterday for Kwankwaso Miller Road residence in Kano see National Chairman of ADC David Mark lead other party chieftains to receive di former governor. Kwankwaso wey resign from NNPP on Sunday collect ADC membership card with number 000201 from di state chairman of di party.

Mark, while welcoming Kwankwaso and im supporters, describe di development as significant moment for Nigeria democratic journey. Im talk say Kwankwaso entry into ADC show ongoing efforts to build united opposition front. Mark accuse di ruling APC of undermining democratic ideals and say Kwankwaso coming to ADC na response to call by Nigerians for unity among opposition leaders.

Kwankwaso for im own part describe di occasion as historic and thank party leadership for di reception. Im urge im supporters nationwide to register with ADC and also obtain dia Permanent Voter Cards through Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of future elections. “Registration for party na only part of di process,” Kwankwaso talk. “Nigerians must also register to vote to bring about di change wey we dey find.”

But Kano State chapter of APC don respond say dem no dey threatened by Kwankwaso move to ADC. Party spokesperson Auwal Soja talk to reporters say APC remain dominant for Kano and well-positioned ahead of future elections. Soja claim say over 80 percent of members of Kwankwasiyya movement don already align with APC, and di party no see any formidable challenger on di horizon.

“Kwankwaso himself for be di only strong contender,” Soja talk. “But im exit leave no figure with comparable political weight.” Di APC spokesperson still extend invitation to di former governor to join APC, describing am as di most viable platform going forward.

Meanwhile, inside ADC sef, some wahala dey. ADC faction chairman Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe don call on Kwankwaso to follow due process if im intend to join di party. Gombe wey describe im group as “authentic” ADC talk say dem respect Kwankwaso but dey concerned about im alleged alignment with what dem call “coalition of political power mongers.”

Di group accuse Kwankwaso of associating with individuals wey dey try hijack ADC for personal and political interests. Dem appeal to di former presidential candidate to reconsider im approach and join di party through legitimate and transparent means. “ADC no be for sale,” Gombe talk. “E be for Nigeria and Nigerians.”
