Osun LG wahala: APC and labour unions dey fight over planned protest for UBA

For Osun State, tension don dey high as di All Progressives Congress (APC) and joint labour unions dey exchange strong words over one planned protest wey go happen for Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Di matter concern di local government funds wey Federal Government pay into council account wey di reinstated APC council chairmen dey control, but di People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Osun State Government no gree with am.

Di APC, through dia Director of Media, Chief Kola Olabisi, don condemn di planned protest wey di joint labour union members wan do. Dem dey call di action “unnecessary” and “politically motivated.” Di party dey talk say di protest na plan to cause wahala for di state, and dem vow to resist am by law.

According to di APC statement, di Federal Government don pay Osun Local Government fund into di council account wey di reinstated APC council chairmen dey operate. But di PDP and Osun State Government no support dis arrangement, and dis don make United Bank of Africa (UBA) withhold di fund since 2025.

Di APC dey accuse di labour union of planning to picket UBA branches for Osogbo, kidnap bank workers, and disrupt commercial activities. Dem dey talk say di planned protest na result of meeting wey di labour leadership hold with some top political functionaries for Governor Ademola Adeleke administration.

Chief Kola Olabisi dey talk say di state government na di facilitator and sponsor of di protest, and dem don provide logistics for am. E dey warn say di leadership of Osun State Joint Labour Movement dey make demself available as willing tool for desperate politicians.

Di APC don call on di Police, Department of State Service (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to intervene before di planned protest at UBA branch for Osogbo. Dem dey caution di labour union to stop make dem use dem as agents of destruction and breach of peace.

Di planned protest dey involve di state chapter of di Joint Labour Movement under di directive of Dr. Christopher A. Arapasopo, state chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC); Comrade Bimbo Fasaasi, state chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC); and Comrade Lekan Adediran, state chairman of Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC).

Di Joint Labour Movement don instruct di state chapter of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to mobilize twenty staff per local government for di protest. Di protest go hold for United Bank for Africa (UBA) branches for Osogbo on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Dis matter don become serious political issue for Osun State as different groups dey take position. Di APC dey maintain say dem go lawfully resist any attempt to plunge di state into needless crisis, while di labour unions dey stand by dia planned action.
