Court Don Order FCTA Workers Make Dem Stop Strike!

No be small matter o! National Industrial Court wey dey for Abuja don wahala FCTA workers wey dey strike, make dem suspend dem strike sharp sharp. Na Tuesday, Justice Emmanuel Subilim talk say dem no fit continue with the protest. Wetin happen be say FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and him Administration don file case against Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) wey dey lead the workers dem.

Justice Subilim talk say although di matter wey dem dey discuss no be small trade dispute, e no mean say workers get absolute right to dey strike. Once dem don carry case go court, na so dem go hold dem strike till dem finish the matter. Na so di judge grant dem interlocutory injunction wey stop JUAC and di workers from any form of industrial action until March 23, wey dem go come back again to hear the case.

As e be now, di union still dey protest, even as Justice don talk say make dem stop. Some workers even gather for di court that Monday wey don carry placards wey dey talk say “Wike Must Go” and “Pay Our Promotion Arrears.” JUAC Secretary, Abdullahi Umar Saleh, come dey urge everybody make dem continue di protest, as di strike don enter week two, don dey affect di FCTA Operations well well.

Di issue wey cause di strike no be small thing o. Workers dey shout for unpaid salaries, dem dey complain about promotion arrears and bad working conditions. Dis strike don start after di unions give di FCTA management ultimatum on January 7. We go see how dem go manage to settle matter, as di workers no wan back down.

Recently, di court come restrict di Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) as dem wan protest for February 3. Justice Emmanuel Subilim don talk say make dem no do am, as Wike don send legal notice to stop dem from wahala for di FCT. All dis na to prevent violence and preserve law and order go ahead.

Wike dey fear say if dem allow strike action and protest dey go on, e fit create local tension and wahala for di residents, especially di people wey get di Private Sector work. Di judge don emphasize say di kind protest wey dem dey plan go dey against di earlier court ruling wey dey in place.

Di leadership of NLC and TUC don also tell their members make dem re-enter work immediately following di meeting with Wike. According to di circular wey dem release, all complaints wey JUAC bring don dey addressed. Dem talk say no worker go face any wahala for di strike, and dem go withdraw all cases wey dem bring go court.
