This gruesome act happen on Monday, February 9, 2026, around 5:30 p.m. for Adoka–Entekpa–Omogidi road, where armed bandits set roadblock like say e be checkpoint. Eyewitnesses talk say as dem stop vehicles, e be like say dem dey fish out Christians because once dem notice say person be Christian, dem go carry gun begin fire like say dem dey play movie!
Ngbede Ofoine, one guy wey dey there, yarn say four people lose their life like that. “We dey live in fear because this road don turn to death trap,” he talk. How dem go fit come out for road wey na supposed take people go anywhere safely?
Two hours after, around 7:15 p.m., another group come hijack bus wey carry fourteen passengers, mostly Christians. Dem dey travel from Obi/Oju area to Okpokwu, but dem no know say dem go meet their end for bush. Two passengers wey try resist dem na dem wey face gun and dem die immediately!
“Dem try run when dem see say the gunmen don force the bus off the main road,” Mrs. Eunice Oche talk, wey get relative for the bus. “Since then, we no hear anything about the others.”
This wahala come just one day after armed men carry nine worshippers from St. John’s Catholic Church straight into the bush, as if dem be chicken wey dem wan chop! Now people dey wonder if our government fit do anything to stop this madness!
Community leaders don voicing their anger, dey complain say security agencies no do their work well. Dem dey ask where security dey when this kind serious wahala dey happen. Mr. Patrick Idoko, one youth leader, say: “By the time help come, the attackers don carry their victims go far.” How we go fit trust these agencies when dem sabi say attack dey happen, but dem dey slow like old tortoise?
Security analyst, John Ikwulono, don advise say the situation for Benue fit show say Nigeria dey face bigger security issue. “If una no address am, these armed groups go continue to exploit us,” he warn.
