Peter Obi don join protesters wey dey fight for better election laws

My people, na real gbege dey happen for Nigeria as our guy, Peter Obi, don align with civil society groups to shout for better election laws. This one na the wahala wey dey for National Assembly as dem dey try amend the Electoral Act.

Obi, wey be the presidential candidate for Labour Party, talk say if Nigeria wan fit survive as democracy, we gatz make sure say we fit get real-time electronic transmission of voting results. Him talk am clear for di protest wey happen for Abuja: “If we no change our ways, wetin make us giant go dey do as giant for wrong things?” Na true talk o!

E be like say di Senate no dey hear di gist well, because dem don approve amendment wey no include di provision for those electronic results transmission. Na wa o! E mean say dem no carry wetin wey most Nigerians been dey demand come for the new bill.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, talk say dem remove am because dem dey fear say network wahala fit cause gbege during elections. And you know say many people no gree with dis excuse, as dem dey argue say tech wey work for bank fit also work for election.

One of di loud voices wey bin dey shout for di protest, Aisha Yusufu, no gree carry last either. She come jabar for Akpabio side, say if banks fit do network work well for Nigeria, wetin stop INEC to do di same for election? No be so work suppose dey run?

Isaac Fayose, wey be brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, join di matter too, no gree make anybody cook excuse for network coverage. Him ask: “How we fit dey spend billions for election, and we no fit find simple solution to di transmission matter?” Na valid talk wey dey comot from mouth!

As wahala dey hot, Akpabio don tell senators say make dem come for emergency meeting on February 10 to rearrange di gbas gbos wey dey happen over di whole bill tins. E be like say di pressure too much!

The new bill still hold some provisions like di Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and say PVC go still dey na di only accepted ID for people wey wan vote. But di way dem dey replace some laws fit make di whole process more difficult o, especially for people wey no fit afford dem PVC well.

Wetin be di way forward? E gatz be say di National Assembly need to listen to wetin di people dey talk and not just do wetin dem wan do. Make we continue to dey on top di matter until dem hear di voice of di people!
