Abuja, Nigeria – As wahala dey hot, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, don shake the ground by sacking the acting executive chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango. Dis gbege take happen on December 5, 2025, and no make anybody fear, e just be like magic.
Statement wey Lere Olayinka, Wike’s senior special assistant, drop for public communication, no give any solid reason for the sack, but one thing wey clear be say the man wey carry dem go tension don take charge to run di agency sharp-sharp. You fit just imagine say Ango no wan take this matter lightly.
Wike no just enter house on top nobody’s matter. He don dey pull some Akpan (like mini-shake) for several agencies under the FCT administration as part of him reformation agenda to improve how dem dey deliver service and how revenue dey come enter. (Talks say change go come, but how e go take happen na another story.)
Michael Ango don serve as the acting chairman since August 2024 after him predecessor Haruna Abdullahi wey carry the position for three years gree waka go different level. At that time, President Bola Tinubu call Ango seasoned professional wey sabi revenue management like say na him family matter.
Just last month, di staff for FCT-IRS even hold event wey dem call “A Night with Ango”, dey sing him praises for correct leadership and vision wey him bring come the service. Na wetin dem go do about that now? (Na fee for dey dance dem go dey shake head). Now, wetin be di next step for dis agency? Hmmm, na just we go continue to dey watch how the matter go unfold.
The removal of Ango dey coincide with Wike’s plans to reorganize revenue-generating institutions and give dem a fresh breath. We no go lie, as di revenue wey dem talk say Ango generate for 2024 don reach N262 billion, clear say him try small. Dis na pass di target wey dem set for N250 billion! (But e no mean say wahala no dey.)
As naija people wey no dey fear problem, now we dey watch make we see wetin Wike dey plan for FCT. As dem say, action speak louder than words, and for this one, we go see how far e go play out. Na so di matter dey stand!
