WAEC Dey Test Students for New Computer-Based Exams – E Go Sweet!

Lagos, Nigeria – E don start o! The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) just run trial test for essay writing as dem prepare to switch WASSCE for school candidates to computer-based format by 2026. The koko of the test happen on Thursday at WAEC Training and Testing Centre, Ogba, where Dr. Amos Dangut, the big man for WAEC Nigeria National Office, lead the whole wahala.

Students wey dey in senior secondary school come gather for the test wey dem design to help dem sabi this new computer-based style wey go mix objective and essay components together. No be small thing o! (Talk about packing everything into one!) Dr. Dangut talk say the whole plan be to prepare students make dem fit participate well for digital exams, and also to fix the technology palava wey plenty schools dey face across Nigeria.

You fit remember say WAEC don talk since September say dem wan fully migrate the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to this Computer-Based format by 2026. According to dem, the whole transition don start for private candidates in 2024, and e don dey show significant progress wey go touch everybody before next year come land.

As Dangut dey address the students, e gree say dem dey make history as the first set to try this new style wey get both online and essay parts. But fear not, my padi, because no be all schools go don enter this computer world yet. Some places wey no get computer go still dey use the old-school essay method. Na wah, talk about being left behind!

“Our goal na to create inclusive system wey go allow every student to write comfortably, no matter where dem dey,” Dangut yarn. He no stop there; he add say this new approach go make exams more better and fairer for all candidates. (Like no more excuses for bad network, abi?)

Dangut also reassure say WAEC dey ready to maintain the integrity and credibility of their exams while helping students achieve their academic dreams. E even encourage students to embrace digital learning, as e dey see technology-driven exams as the koko for future education and to stay competitive globally. (Digital is the new black!)
