After many months of this serious kes kes between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and him predecessor, Nyesom Wike, wey no dey pretend as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, the president don come drop some peace terms wey no fit carry last.
According to gist wey dem carry come, Tinubu don give Wike the title of ‘political leader’ for Rivers State, na him get final say for party matter, whether na APC or PDP to run. You sabi say na serious juju dis one be, as Wike no dey carry APC card, but him dey run show like say na him be the godfather! Hmmm, wahala no dey finish for this Naija politics.
As if no be enough, Tinubu don also tell dem say make dem pack hand for any impeachment matter against Fubara, for now. Dis one na good strategy wey fit make dem gree calm down, before more blood dey yan. But you know say everybody dey watch how this go play out, because Wike no go just sit down dey chill, him wan control everything!
Dem say for Abuja, Tinubu don intervene three times for this matter since December 2023, but still the wahala dey come back like a bad smell. Wetin you go expect, when two big men dey duel for power? If you sabi Rivers politics, you go know say na so dem dey run their own show!
Wike don turn the whole state assembly members to him followers as dem dey rally round am, while Fubara dey try balance as e no wan fall hand. The whole episode don turn to soap opera where everybody dey shout ‘who wan take the crown?’
As dis latest peace talk dey happen, some lawmakers don finally decide to halt the impeachment wahala wey dey hang like Damocles’ sword over Fubara and him deputy, Ngozi Odu. E be like dem don reason am say e go better make dem chill before matter turn to fight, because na only God sabi wetin go happen next.
For dis new agreement, Fubara go need to recognize Wike give am respect wey e deserve as elder for Rivers politics, even if Wike still dey drop for PDP. Dis one fit show say APC no dey carry their structure as serious as dem suppose do.
But as dem don set the stage for February 21, 2026 bye-elections, we go see if dis new approach go bring true peace or na only temporary calm we dey enjoy. Naija politics no dey ever finish!
