As political experts dey try to analyze di situation, some don raise concerns about di Supreme Court’s role in di emergency declaration. Former Chairman of di National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu criticize di court, saying dem don lose di independence wey dem suppose get. He lament say di current leadership no dey safeguard democracy like di previous leadership.

On di other hand, di President of di Nigerian Bar Association, Afam Osigwe (SAN) argue say di issue for Rivers State no be because of di Supreme Court but rather due to di egos of di political actors wey dey involved. He criticize dem for refusing to find common ground wey go favor di people of di state.
“Di wahala for Rivers State na because of di egos of di people wey dey involved. If dem fit put Rivers State above their personal interest, we no go dey like dis,” Osigwe talk.
He add say although di court fit give legal direction, how dem go resolve di political crisis depend on di willingness of di leaders to prioritize governance above their personal conflicts.
