Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) don come outside with serious warning for tertiary institutions wey dey play tricks with students’ loan. Dem reveal say any school wey dem catch doing fraudulent things like falsifying student records, or colluding with students go collect loan wey no concern dem, go face the music. And no be joke, o!
This package of warnings come as part of new operational guidelines wey dem drop for the student loan scheme. The guidelines, wey water down go with fine-tooth comb, don make am clear say institutions wey no dey refund money wey dem collect by mistake go hear word. Just like say dem dey collect money wey no concern dem, no wahala.
According to dem, if any school collect money for duplicate payments or overpayments, dem gatz refund the excess within 30 days or else dem fit face the consequences. Na serious matter, my people! You for see am like when dem go do ‘we no go take nonsense’ kind policy.
And the sanctions no dey play, as dem wan ensure any institution wey go against the provisions of the Student Loan Act, 2024, go find their self in hot soup! Schools wey engage in any dubious activity—like lying about student information or helping students collect loans wey dem no qualify for, go find their own don dey for the pasta!
Make I clear am for una: this new guideline no go affect students wey don already enroll for the scheme; only if na overpayments or double payments wey dey worry dem. So no be say, ‘oh why my school no go collect funds again?’ Just make sure everywhere dey clean.
The fund talk am clear, dem go put suspension on any school wey dem catch with allegations of misconduct or irregularities while dem dey investigate. Na so e be, my padi! If dem catch you for this wahala, no escape route, you go dey ground for the next payment cycle!
In all these wahala, wey we sure say na wetin we need to stop corruption and improve our education system. With the way e dey, economy no dey smirk; we need make learning no just dey fall hands for wahala.
