Rockets Dominate Jazz for 50th Win as Losing Streak Continues for Utah

HOUSTON, TXHouston Rockets take control as they defeat Utah Jazz 143-105 at the Toyota Center on April 2, 2025. This win marks the Rockets’ 50th victory of the season, solidifying their position in the playoffs.

Jalen Green led the scoring for Houston with 22 points alongside 10 assists, while Dillon Brooks contributed significantly with 21 points. The team showed off their shooting strength, hitting 54% of shots and 19 of 45 from beyond the arc. Houston’s bench also stepped up, with Jabari Smith Jr. recording 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists.

The Jazz, currently on a seven-game losing streak, struggled throughout the match, managing only 43% from the field. Collin Sexton and Walker Kessler each added 18 and 14 points respectively, but their efforts were not enough to combat the dominant performance from Houston. Utah’s woes continue as they have now lost 17 of their last 18 games.

One of the pivotal moments in the game saw Green’s decisive layup, which sparked a 17-6 run for the Rockets after trailing 20-16. By halftime, Houston led comfortably at 70-46, controlling both ends of the floor.

“We executed our plays and defended well,” Rockets head coach said. “It’s crucial as we head into the playoffs.” The Rockets also outrebounded the Jazz 63-39, with a notable 23-6 advantage in second-chance points.

In a concerning incident, Brooks received a technical foul in the first quarter after a controversial play involving Sexton. If the tech is upheld, it would be Brooks’ 16th of the season, leading to a possible suspension for the upcoming game against Oklahoma City.

Looking ahead, the Jazz will continue their road trip as they face the Indiana Pacers next. Meanwhile, Houston aims to build on their success when they host the Thunder on Friday night.
