PSG Dominate St Etienne, Grab 13th Ligue 1 Title for Dem

St Etienne, France – Paris St Germain (PSG) take significant step towards their 13th Ligue 1 title by thrashing St Etienne 6-1 on Sunday. Desiré Doue scored twice to help his team stretch their unbeaten league run to 27 matches this season.

The game started brightly for St Etienne, with Lucas Stassin putting them ahead in the ninth minute with a well-placed header from Zuriko Davitashvili’s cross. The hosts held onto a 1-0 lead until late in the first half when PSG’s Goncalo Ramos equalized from the penalty spot after being fouled in the box.

PSG’s second half was a display of attacking prowess. Within eight minutes after the break, PSG took control with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scoring the second goal, followed by Doué’s brace and Joao Neves also finding the net. The damage culminated with Ibrahim Mbaye scoring the sixth goal late in the match.

“We showed our quality today, especially in the second half,” Doué said after the match. “Everyone contributed, and we wanted to secure the title early.”

The win continued PSG’s quest for an unprecedented quadruple as they equaled AC Milan‘s record of 38 away league games without defeat. Despite their current struggles, St Etienne showed resilience by putting PSG under pressure in the first half.

St Etienne’s coach commented, “We had good moments, but we need to be more consistent until the final whistle. PSG are a strong side, and today they showed their intensity.”

PSG will now shift focus to their upcoming fixtures, including the Coupe de France semi-finals against Dunkerque on Tuesday and the Champions League quarter-finals against Aston Villa on April 9.
