Ilorin, Nigeria — Controversial Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, known as Portable, don land for police custody after dem arrest am on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Dis arrest follow petition wey Mr. Okunola Saheed, wey dem sabi as Osupa, file against am for serious allegations including criminal defamation and threat to life.
According to SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, wey be Police Public Relations Officer, dis arrest happen after police collect valid warrant from Magistrate Court for Ilorin. Dem say the allegations get weight, and dem present enough evidence before dem go proceed with the action.
“Di petition get serious allegations like criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, plus conduct wey fit cause breach of peace,” Ejire-Adeyemi talk for the statement. “So we secure di arrest warrant and operatives from Kwara State Police Command go Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, where dem catch Portable around 7:25 p.m. He don dey transport go Ilorin for further investigation.”
As he reach, dem take statement from am with legal representatives from both sides dey present. Portable dey custody now, and police dey plan to take am to court without delay.
Dis incident follow weeks of social media drama between Portable and Osupa, where dem fit exchange threatening language and defamatory remarks. One source wey close to di case talk say, “Osupa no get choice than to involve law enforcement after di verbal attacks don turn serious. No one dey above di law, and dis na test for how artistes go dey held accountable for wetin dem do publicly.”
