NYSC Don Update Policy Weh Go Make NERD Mandatory For All Graduates

Abuja, Nigeria – From October 6, 2025, no fresh graduates go fit jolly for NYSC without showing proof say dem don comply with the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) policy. Na serious matter o!

E go involve all Nigerian graduates, whether dem graduate from local schools or any foreign institution.

The new directive mean say all those wey wan serve should deposit their academic works – like thesis or project reports – into the NERD databank. This deposit go serve as ‘quality assurance check’ to prove say dem still dey actively enroll for their academic programme. E still fit help increase the standard of education across the country (no more half-baked degrees, abeg).

In fact, the circular come dey make am clear say no graduate go fit mobilize for NYSC without this NERD proof after October 6. But no wahala for those wey don already dey serve or those wey don enroll before that date.

Haula Galadima, the spokesperson for NERD, talk am say the initiative go help raise the quality of academic outputs nationwide by making sure say supervision dey tighten. Each academic work wey dem deposit go carry full names of the student, supervisor, and the sponsoring institution. Na really big opportunity for lecturers and students wey go fit earn lifetime income from their academic work.

As part of the new policy wey dey receive approval, dem also go get better data exchange support from important bodies like the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). Them go use application programming interfaces (APIs) to validate data and make sure everything dey okay.

From March 30 every year, all education institutions go also dey submit annual compliance reports to NERD. This way, everybody go sabi wetin dey happen and wetin need improvement.

Currently, the Education Minister, Tunji Alausa, don confirm say all those requirements go make academic processes clearer and help Nigeria stop the intellectual waste wey don dey happen for decades.
