Abuja, Nigeria – E be like say Navy don ready to shine as dem promote 127 senior officers to higher ranks. Na wetin we hear on Thursday as dem drop the breakdown of the promotions. No be small move o, as 15 Commodores don upgrade to Rear Admiral status, while 31 Captains don turn Commodore. Even 81 Commanders don flex their muscles enter Captain rank.
Make I break am down small-small: Dem newly promoted Rear Admirals include Olumide Olajide Fadahunsi, Patrick Emuebie Meteke, Ponfa Paul Nimmyel (no be small name o), Sulieman Wale Olorundare, and Johnson Adekunle Adewoyin among others. Na dem wey go fit wave the flag better as dem take this new rank.
As for the Commodores, the list get plenty big names like Solomon Ohunenese, Mahmud Fana, and Taofiq Gidado. E no easy o, but dem manage carry the weight of the titles wey dem don receive. If dem fit fit carry this rank well as dem dey carry their belly for pounded yam, na surely dem go do well.
Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, wey be the Navy’s spokesman, na im drop this gist about the promotions. Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, wey be the Chief of the Naval Staff, don already hail the new officers and the families. E even tell dem make dem carry their loyalty beta to the country and the Commander-in-Chief, wey be President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Na so e go be, make dem dey shine like new uniform!
Promotion wey come with new power no be small thing. As our Navy dey grow, we dey expect say dem go perform better, because na the same country we all dey represent. Make we no forget say dem fit always bring new strategies to tackle wahala wey dey off sea. So, my padi, make we raise our glasses (or palm wine) to celebrate dem, because leadership na serious business, but e still suppose full with small small enjoyment.
