Organizers of di protest, under di group name Youth for Change, don release statement wey say dem dey angry over poor governance, economic hardship, and di lack of job opportunities wey dey affect dem. ‘Dis government no dey listen to our cries. We go use our voice to demand for beta future,’ na wetin Bolaji Afolabi, one of di group leaders, tok.
Di group don gather more than 5,000 supporters on social media, as dem dey prepare for di demonstration. ‘Our people dey suffer, and we no fit keep quiet anymore. We must show dem say we dey serious,’ na wetin Afolabi add.
As di day dey approach, di police don begin to dey issue warnings about possible disruption. Di Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Mohammed Mustapha, don warn dem say any protest wey no follow di law fit lead to serious consequences.
But youth leaders don insist say dem go follow all di necessary procedures to organize dis protest peacefully. ‘We go make sure say we no carry wahala. We go protest for our rights in peace, ‘ na wetin Chimezie Okoro, another youth leader, confirm.
Experts say di youth protests fit be turning point for di country. ‘For long, di youth don dey silent, but now dem don begin to express demself. Dis fit change di narrative for Nigeria,’ na wetin Professor Adeola Igbinedion, political analyst, talk.
