Abuja, Nigeria – Omo, e don set! Naija girls don gather waka reach Abuja, and dey don’t dey hot for di voting matter wey dey ground. E be like say dem don tire for all di wahala wey dey happen recently, and now dem don decide say dem go show dem power. Who say Naija girls no fit change di world?
Last week for Abuja, over one thousand babes gather for rally wey dem call ‘Girls for Change.’ Dey believe say if dem no speak out now, dis election go turn like movie wey don spoil, no be so? (You know say Naija films dey always get bad endings sometimes).
Dey kwehsion wey dey on top everybody head na, why dem dey aloof from voting? Some say na because dem no believe say e go make any difference. Others dey feel say di political system no go allow dem shine. But dem girls wey rally no gree hear word o! Dem come dey chant slogans wey fit wake dead body.
Dem talk say, “We go vote to change di narrative!” And na true! If dem no fit choose di right leaders, who go do am for dem? Imagine say dem dey complain say man dem no dey fit manage di country, but dem no show face for elections. Na wetin dem call ‘no foresight’ abeg?
Heard say some of dem even come with placards wey read, “Enough is enough” and “We want our voices to count!” I tell you, dem don pack di fire for di matter, e be like say Naija go dey hear di gist for many years to come.
Despite all di talk, some politicians dey downplay di matter. Na wah! Dem dey act like say na dem go run di show all di time. Some bitter sweets say dem dey do am like small pikin wey no wan share biscuit, but di girl dem don ready to take dem place for front seat.
As di election dey waka closer, wetin we go fit do? We go watch di girls gree dey mobilize, join various organizations to ensure dem dey vote. At least, if dem fit carry di vote dem no fit waste am. (No be so?).
One of di girls wey dey behind di movement, Aisha, com explain say, “Our mumu don do! Dis time, we no go allow anybody play us like say we be side characters for dis show. We be major players!”
And na here we dey o! Naija girls don rise up, dem dey prepare to drop dem votes like say na hot gist. So, make you sharp, if you dey sleep on top your vote matter, na you go miss out on di real action!
