Musikilu Mojeed Demands National App to Tame Nigeria Insecurity Wahala

Abuja, Nigeria – On Monday, during a national symposium wey happen for Abuja, Musikilu Mojeed, wey be the Editor-in-Chief of PREMIUM TIMES and President of the International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria, drop some serious gists about how to tackle Nigeria’s wahala for insecurity.

Mr. Mojeed dey push for dem military authorities to join hands with stakeholders dem to create national mobile app wey go allow victims and eyewitnesses of attacks report incidents without fear or wahala. He talk say this kind innovation fit help reduce misinformation wey dey waka about the country’s security challenges.

During the symposium wey Center for Crisis Communication organize, stakeholders from different walks of life come together. We talking security agencies, government people, ICT regulators, media houses, and even development partners. Dem gather to discuss how digital technology fit help better crisis communication. Na serious matter o!

Mr. Mojeed, wey don win plenty awards for investigative journalism, suggest say the app suppose include Artificial Intelligence (AI) wey fit analyze real-time data. He believe say this go support social media monitoring and help stop false information wey dey fly around when emergency dey happen.

As e talk, “By now, we suppose design mobile apps wey go fit report crises. Like if kidnapping or armed robbery happen, people suppose get real-time update about di situation. Na no be say army go design their own app or police go do theirs; we need to collaborate.”

He drop example of person wey wan travel from Kaduna to Abuja and talk say di app supposed fit give users information about di best time to travel based on real events. “If dem wan travel, di app go sabi wetin dey happen and advise dem accordingly,” he add.

Mr. Mojeed no dey play; he talk say if dem fit make this app work, e go help prevent many crises, allow citizens upload reports before authorities even sabi say dem happen. E go clear misinformation and allow security agencies coordinate better. “This innovation no be optional o; e don become necessity for crisis reporting in Nigeria,” he declare.

For di question-and-answer session, e still advise journalists to maintain dem professionalism for reporting, make dem ensure say di facts dem dey correct before dem run any story. “You go fit dey professional while holding authorities to account,” he talk.

Na so the matter still dey be; as Nigeria still dey shuffle with serious security challenges like kidnappings, armed attacks, and palava for schools and places of worship. As we dey hear gists about armed men wey dey invade schools and kidnap students, e don dey clear say dis kind app go fit bring some kind order to di chaos wey dey reign.

Over time, things don change for Nigeria, and many people dey rely on social media for news about di latest attacks. But dis one dey cause more confusion and panic, wey make security responses slow. So now, na di time to create effective reporting system wey go fit help citizens and make security agencies waka better.

As Mr. Mojeed don talk, “E go help us create a better system where citizens gon fit upload their experiences and information wey go fit help responders to coordinate better when crises strike.” Na serious matter and we be hope this innovation go see di light of day!
