ABUJA, Nigeria — Tension don increase sharply for Labour Party (LP) as supporters of the beleaguered National Chairman, Julius Abure, prepare for dem according to dem, an “imminent invasion” of the party’s national secretariat for Abuja. The court ruling follow allegations say Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee plan to invade party headquarters, as per Umar Ibrahim, the former National Secretary for LP, wey make dis claim for statement.
Ibrahim claim say dis invasion, wey dem say Abia State Governor Alex Otti dey bankrolling with some other big person for the party, go start on Monday, April 7. Dem wan break into the offices, steal sensitive documents, and damage party property, as dem don do before.
“We go see dis action as irresponsible and na clear sign of desperation from the NLC,” Ibrahim talk. “E dey against the Labour Union laws to dey play partisan politics like dis.”
He continue, “Supreme Court wey dey talk, say political party matter na internal issue. There no any word wey go allow NLC or caretaker committee to take over LP leadership.” He call on police and security agencies to make sure say any attempt to disrupt d peace of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) go fail and those behind am go face the law.
On the other hand, reaction from the NLC dey come as Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, acting chairman of NLC Political Commission, no pick call for comment but he text say he dey meeting.
Meanwhile, Tony Akeni, spokesperson for Usman-led caretaker committee, deny say dem get plans to invade. “Dis allegation na a serious criminal matter,” he dey talk. “Na case of guilty person wey dey run when nobody dey pursue am, we no get plans like that.”
