Kano Police Don Ban Salah Durbar Fit Fight Wahala for Eid Celebration

Kano, Nigeria — Di Kano State Police Command don announce ban on all Durbar activities for di 2025 Eid-El-Fitr celebration, as dem cite security wahala and say e go help maintain public order. Di Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, make di announcement for one press briefing wey happen for Bompai Police Headquarters on Friday.

CP Bakori talk say dem make dis decision afta strong analysis of di security situation for di state, especially as di rising tension and uncertainty wey dey surround di Durbar activities dey high. “As we dey pursue safe celebration, we don assess di rising tensions and uncertainties surrounding di Durbar activities,” he talk. “Due to credible intelligence report of plans to exploit di Durbar for unrest, we don place ban on all Durbar activities during di Eid-El-Fitr celebrations across di state,” Bakori continue.

For di press briefing, CP Bakori emphasize say dem go ensure say security measures dey in place to protect Eid prayers for di designated grounds. He urge all worshippers make dem follow di security guidelines, including no carry unnecessary objects wey fit raise suspicions. E also warn say dem go prohibit horse riding (Kilisa), car racing and reckless driving during di celebration.

“As we dey celebrate, make we no forget say peace na di main thing. We go put our differences aside and work together as law-abiding citizens for di betterment of our state and nation,” he urge di public. Di police boss also advise parents make dem caution dia children no let any bad pipo use dem for wahala and make sure say dem comply with di public order.

Dis decision come as di 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, don also cancel di Salah Durbar to maintain peace. Earlier, Emir Bayero don request police protection for di event, but tension increase as di 16th Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, dey prepare for im own Sallah celebrations too.

Di Salah Durbar na one important cultural event for di Hausa people, and Kano monarchy don dey known for preserving dis tradition. But di recent wahala within di royal family don create uncertainty around dis year’s celebration. Di cancellation don shock some people for Kano, but many others dey expect di decision, especially as dis na di second backward Salah Durbar dem go cancel in a row.
