Cheyenne, Wyoming — As Easter approaches, we dey remember Jesus Christ, who sacrifice for we sins o. About 2,000 years ago, Jesus suffer for our sake, feel the pain and challenges wey dey devil’s own. For Garden of Gethsemane, he go through serious agony, and him final words for the cross, ‘It is finished,’ show say him don complete wetin him come do for Earth.
After Jesus die, dem prepare his body and put am for tomb. But the real celebration no come from his death; instead, we dey celebrate his resurrection. In just three days, Jesus come back to life, and dis miraculous event show say he truly be the son of God. People wey see am after him rise don bear witness to this truth.
As I dey reflect on this special season, I fit shout say Jesus dey live! The pain wey Jesus endure for us no be small; e go through wahala wey only God fit experience. Because of him sacrifice, all of us fit enjoy everlasting life wey go full with joy and peace.
Sometimes, I dey wonder if I fit ever repay the huge debt wey I owe Jesus. The answer be “No.” But wetin I fit do to show my gratitude? Jesus don already tell us for John 13 say make we love one another like e love us.
Dis love wey Jesus get for we no be something we fit fully understand, but I dey try my best to show and spread am everyday. I go also highlight some moments wey make me feel dis Christlike love strong.
One of dem na about 22 years ago when my youngest pikin, Tiffany, come get Type 1 diabetes. She dey just 4 years old. When I dey talk to her elder sister, Nicole, wey be 15 years, I see tears for her eyes as she go talk, ‘Why I no fit be the one wey get diabetes?’ This moment show how Nicole love her sister sincerely.
Another time wey I witness this love na when I go spend time with my 4-year-old grandson, Warren. Him mama dey pregnant for a baby girl. As we dey waka for toy aisle, Warren pick frilly doll wey him like, and him say na gift for him unborn sister! He even rush the doll go her nursery when we get home. Two months later, Katrena, the new baby, join our family.
Another example na my grandson, Bridger. When him dey just 6 years old, he put himself for danger to protect him 4-year-old sister from vicious dog wey wan attack her. When I dey visit him after him come out from hospital, I feel deep love for his family as we dey talk together.
As Easter dey come, I dey beg you to thank Jesus Christ for him sacrifice. Make we all try understand and reflect him great love for us by showing love to each other. Happy Easter!
