Abuja, Nigeria – Health workers dey vex as dem don declare indefinite nationwide strike wey start from Saturday, November 15, 2025. Na Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) nah dem wey dish out the news, citing say federal government no gree implement adjusted Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and other wahala wey don dey happen for ages.
Dis announcement come as wetin Kabiru Minjibri, the JOHESU National Chairman, drop for statement on Friday. E be like say dis wahala don dey trend since dem don give federal government 15-day ultimatum to take action on di CONHESS matter, but dem no hear word.
Wetin don provoke dis strike na di delays wey follow di High-Level Body Committee report wey dem submit to President Committee on Salaries and Wages for 2022. Di unions no dey smile as dem don dey shout since 2014 say dem wan fair treatment and di adjustment wey dem dey ask for no be new matter at all.
These health workers don tire for all di promises wey no fit materialize. Dem don observe say dis strike dey come at a very delicate time, as Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) still dey face their own battle with issues of unpaid hazard allowances. E be like Nigerian health system na wahala!
JOHESU dey represent various unions including Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), and others wey hold di health sector together. Dis strike go affect several federal teaching hospitals and state-owned hospitals wey dey fight for survival under dis current yo-yo government.
As per di unions statement, dem don warn say if federal government no take action to resolve dis matter sharp-sharp, dem go dey firm on di strike. Dem don show empathy to di patients wey go suffer because of dis action, but dem talk say nobody fit change di reality of government inaction.
Na wetin dem dey call “diplomatic battles” na im dey happen for di health sector now. With multiple strikes happening at di same time, healthcare delivery na somtin wey no fit be guaranteed anytime soon. Omo na only God fit help di system!
