Harry Amass Set to Shine as United Faces Wolves This Sunday

Manchester, EnglandRuben Amorim has included 18-year-old Harry Amass in the squad to face Wolverhampton Wanderers this Sunday at Old Trafford, after the defender made an impressive Premier League debut last month against Leicester City.

Amass, who joined Manchester United from Watford in the summer of 2023, has quickly become one of the standout prospects in the club’s academy. He signed a contract that runs until June 2027 and has already displayed remarkable potential, including a strong performance while helping United secure a dramatic comeback against Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA quarterfinals.

Amorim confirmed the teenager’s inclusion in the upcoming match as he plans to rest several senior players ahead of United’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Athletic Bilbao on May 1. ‘It’s a difficult moment for the youngsters to play,’ Amorim said. ‘They need a strong base to really show what they can do, but in this moment, we need to do it.’

Despite United’s struggles this season, where they currently sit 14th in the Premier League, the manager is keen to integrate younger players. Amass has made ten appearances across various competitions this season, contributing two assists and recently captained the England Under-18 team to victory over Portugal.

‘Amass did really well against Lyon,’ Amorim added. ‘We will give the young players a chance, even if it’s not the perfect moment.’ Alongside Amass, fellow academy standout Chido Obi-Martin could also feature after impressing during his outings.

Amorim praised Wolves manager Vitor Pereira for his impact on the squad, as they have won four consecutive matches to pull away from relegation danger. ‘I think he is doing an amazing job. They have real quality players like Matheus Cunha; we know it’s going to be a tough match,’ he said. With both teams eager for points, fans can expect a dynamic matchup this weekend.

As for Andre Onana, the United goalkeeper who faced scrutiny after several unconvincing performances, Amorim remains committed to supporting him. ‘Andre did really well in the last game,’ he noted. The United manager acknowledged that Onana will not be resting ahead of the crucial Europa clash and must continue to perform at high levels.

In a challenging season marked by injuries and inconsistencies, the return of young talents like Amass may provide a spark for United as they look to salvage pride in their remaining fixtures. Sunday’s match against Wolves could be a critical opportunity for not only the players but also for the fans who continue to support the team during tough times.
