Osogbo, Osun State — Governor Ademola Adeleke don issue serious warning to traditional rulers of Ifon, Erin Osun, and Ilobu communities, say dem go face dethronement if violence come back after dem don enjoy peace. Na di warning come on Monday, as dem talk say some faceless groups dey plan attack for di area.
In statement wey Olawale Rasheed, di governor’s spokesperson, sign, Adeleke explain say dis warning float during Sallah celebrations, when im receive reports of pipo wey dey plan fresh conflict around Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun towns. Di statement also mention say security agencies don increase surveillance to stop any form of attack.
“During di Sallah period, I hear say some people dey plan fight again for Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun towns. Security agencies don tighten dem security to ensure say no attack go happen,” di statement talk.
The governor confirm say im don order investigation of key people wey dey instigate di conflict. He remind di traditional rulers say dem go accountable if peace no dey for dem communities. “I go remove any traditional ruler wey allow violence to come back. Dis warning no be joke. Royal fathers must ensure dem control their subjects. Na enough!” im conclude.
Adeleke also declare say if violence start again, im go re-impose di 24-hour curfew wey dem relax before. Di curfew wan relaxed from 24 hours to 17 hours as humanitarian gesture to help di community people wey don suffer from di crisis.
“Di curfew wey we relax was based on humanitarian values. We sabi say many innocent people dey suffer because of di wicked plans of some bad pipo. Any attempt to take advantage of dis curfew relaxation for violence go meet full re-imposition of di curfew,” di governor explain.
Di latest violence don cause serious destruction in di communities, wey dey rooted in land disputes. Di conflict wey start for March 20 result in lives lost and properties destroyed, with three persons confirmed dead. Areas like Ifon Osun suffer heavy damage, with many houses, vehicles, and two filling stations burned down.
Adeleke, during im tour of di affected areas about a week ago, see say di level of destruction too high. “I see plenty houses don burn, and e be like sey di towns don abandon. Residents don run go hide for nearby communities,” im talk.
To prevent further breakdown of law and order, Governor don put curfew for di troubled areas as more security measures dey put in place. On March 26, he order di establishment of three camps for di displaced people wey suffer for di clashes, while relief materials dey shared to dem. Di government express commitment to ensure peace reign for di affected areas and anybody wey get wahala for security matter go face di law.
