Dey invest over $2.5 billion from FY 2021-2023 in programs to increase access to quality basic and higher education for girls and women in 69 countries. Dis investment reach 18.7 million girls and women in FY23 alone, aimin to advance gender equality in and through education.
UNICEF also highlight de importance of STEM education for girls. Programs in countries like Kenya, Namibia, and Ethiopia focus on providin technical and vocational education training centers for adolescent girls, preparin dem for roles in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Another critical area be de fight against child marriage. Globally, 12 million girls marry before de age of 18 each year, which be a violation of human rights and threaten deir well-being and futures. USAID and de Department of State invest $86 million in 27 countries to prevent and respond to dis harmful practice.
In addition, UNICEF and other international organizations dey work tirelessly to protect girls from violence and abuse. Over 370 million girls and women globally have experienced rape or sexual assault before de age of 18, and efforts are being made to address dis issue and ensure girls’ safety and well-being.
