Lagos, Nigeria – Ekobank Plc don file case for Federal High Court for Lagos to stop Otudeko Obafemi Adedamola, wey be son of Oba Otudeko, and other parties from selling or transferring 6,314,116,229 shares of Barbican Capital Limited in FBN Holdings. Dem court action come as part of Ekobank’s main suit, wey Kunle Ogunba (SAN) carry go court against Otudeko, Barbican Capital Limited, Honeywell Flourmills of Nigeria Plc, and others.
According to Ekobank lawyer, Honeywell Flourmills and Siloam Global Services, along with Otudeko, dey try to deprive the bank of its right to benefits from a Supreme Court ruling wey confirm say Honeywell and Siloam get debts to Ekobank. Dem dey use money from the sales to set up Barbican, wey go against the previous court ruling.
The motion wey Ogunba file seek for “interim injunction wey go block defendants from any actions wey fit compromise, sell, transfer, or deal with the shares pending court hearing.” Ogunba talk say “Barbican, wey dey under Honeywell, dey use the funds for something wey no dey settle their debts.”
For the court hearing wey happen on April 3, Ogunba appeal to the court make e grant the interim orders in the interest of justice. The case come adjourn to April 15, 2025, for further hearing on the motion.
Ekobank and Honeywell don dey fight legal battle since 2015 over N5.5 billion wey Honeywell no pay. The Supreme Court, on 2023, don dismiss Honeywell’s appeal wey challenge the verdict of the Court of Appeal concerning the debt dispute.
