Ado Ekiti, Nigeria – The new Global President of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association, Oluseyi Idowu, declared that the group will harness members’ collective strength and expertise to drive transformational development in the institution. Idowu made this statement during the inauguration of the new global executive council on Tuesday.
The newly elected council members, who will serve a four-year term, include Folasade Olusegun (Global Vice President), Ige Isijola Ige (Vice President 2), Olumide Abudu (Global Secretary), Mustafa Ajadi (Assistant Secretary), Hakim (Treasurer), and Sunday Adelokiki (Legal Adviser). Other members are Blessing Adebayo (Financial Secretary), Olusola Fayemi (Technical Secretary), Muyiwa Cole (Welfare Secretary), Asetunji Aribasoye (Public Relations Officer), Ransome Sanni (Auditor), Daniel Akande (Social Secretary), and Adebayo Akinyemi (Ex-Officio).
In his inaugural address, Idowu emphasized the role of the alumni body in enhancing the reputation of EKSU. “We aim to create a vibrant ecosystem that fuels growth, progress, and pride in our alma mater,” he stated. He expressed commitment to the alumni body’s efforts to ensure EKSU maintains its status as one of Nigeria’s top higher learning institutions.
“Working hand-in-hand, we will harness the collective expertise, resources, and passion of our members to drive growth, development, and progress,” Idowu asserted. “We will bridge the gap between the university’s management and the alumni, create synergy that benefits both parties, and ultimately elevate EKSU to new heights of academic excellence, research, and infrastructural development.”
Addressing attendees, Professor Afolabi Popoola, a faculty member in the College of Education at EKSU, praised the alumni association for its significant contributions to the university’s advancement. “Alumni are a vital source of support for their alma mater,” Popoola stated. He encouraged the newly formed board to continue building on the successes of their predecessors.
The immediate past Global President of EKSU Alumni, Dipo Bamisaye, expressed gratitude towards the Board of Trustees and fellow alumni for their ongoing support that led to significant achievements during his term. “This collaboration has been instrumental, and I urge the new executives to keep fostering this spirit of unity,” he remarked.
