Brigadier General Nafiu explain say dem don start to pay dis new allowance since March, e be like say na eight months after President Bola Tinubu sign the minimum wage law into law. “The government dey conscious of him promise, we go handle di arrears within di budgetary provision. Once dem release funds to us, we go pay dem,” he talk.
He emphasize say no corps member wey don pass out go left out for dis payment. “Even those wey don complete dem service go benefit. Once we get di necessary funds, we go credit dem – we don get dia bank details. Nigerians no need to worry; di government dey responsible and dey respond to di needs of di people,” he added.
As di event dey go on, di Director of Corps Mobilisation, Mohammed Abubakar, talk about di ongoing issues of fraudulent enrolment of unqualified graduates by some tertiary institutions. “Despite di progress wey we don make for di past years, we still dey face serious challenges, especially di fraudulent uploading of unqualified graduates,” he lamented.
Abubakar insist say dis matter need serious attention as dem dey prepare for di upcoming NYSC mobilization. “We don achieve remarkable progress, but we must tackle di ongoing problems wey dey affect our corps members. Dis process dey vital for di growth of our nation, but e come with challenges, especially di wahala of dishonest enrollments. We suppose dey alert and proactive,” he said.
Furthermore, di Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, stress di need to reform di NYSC scheme to align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “As Nigeria dey evolve, di NYSC also need to evolve. We must bridge di gaps and make sure say di scheme dey prepare our graduates well for di job market,” he urge.
Olawande remind people of di original purpose of di NYSC wey start for 1973, saying, “Everything don change since den. We need to reform di scheme to meet di new demands of our society. Let’s reshape di process so e go fit prepare our graduates for work.” He add say di work of reforming di mobilization no be only di government responsibility, but e go require collaboration from all parts. “We fit build an NYSC wey go adapt, dey inclusive, and go serve di future generations,” he concluded.
Di Minister of di Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, also pledge im support for di NYSC throughout di service year. E dey represented by Abdullahi Suleiman, di Mandate Secretary for Youth and Sports at di Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), who confirm say di administration go still partner with di scheme to help achieve its objectives.
