Corps Members Demands Their Allowance as NYSC Service Year End

Kano, Nigeria — As dem mark dia service year end, members wey graduate from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2024 Batch A, Stream 2, don call Federal Government to pay dem outstanding arrears wey go help dem become self-reliant. Dis appeal no come after dem confirm sey dem don receive ₦77,000 allowance wey government recently approve.

During lowkey passing-out parade wey happen for Federal Secretariat Kano, corps members express gratitude for the payment, but dem emphasize sey dem still get pending allowances to clear. Dem highlight sey cost of living dey rise and e dey hard to secure jobs, stressing sey receiving all dem due payments go ease their transition into life after service.

Isma’il Isah, one corps member, share him concern, “We appreciate the ₦77,000 wey we receive, but we still get arrears wey government need to clear. Many of us get plan to start small business or continue our education, and every naira dey count,” him talk.

Another corps member, Sani Samuel, commend NYSC management for dem guidance during the service year. He also confirm sey him receive the ₦77,000 allowance and express hope sey “government go pay the corps members dem arrears if dem wan make sure say we fit be self-reliant.”

However, Tahir Muhammad Musbahudeen express joy after completing him service year. Him also commend government for fulfilling dem promise. Tahir urge federal government to pay dia arrears to add value to corps members. “We dey thank God for completing our NYSC, e dey sweet. For the government, dem must fulfill dem promises as e go show sey dem dey care for people, especially corps members. So, if dis government wan make youth show unity, dem gatz show us sey dem care. We thank government for di ₦77,000 payment as we dey wait for our arrears,” him talk.

Tahir also call on NYSC to “expand Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program by adding modern technology to better equip corps members for di evolving job market.” Dem emphasize sey even though di SAED program don help for self-reliance, di current structure dey lack exposure to new technological trends like digital marketing, artificial intelligence, and software development.

During di passing-out ceremony, di Assistant Director wey dey in charge of Corps Deployment and Relocation of NYSC for Kano, Fatogun Olatunji, talk sey total of 1,867 corps members from 2024 Batch A, Stream 2, complete dia service for di state. Olatunji, wey dey act as NYSC State Coordinator for Kano, warn sey, “corps members wey no show dem face during dia service year go face sanction with extension.”

Olatunji emphasize di importance of discipline and commitment to national service, talk sey those wey fail to meet NYSC requirement no go be cleared until dem fulfill dia obligations.
