Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) while attempting to flee the country. According to social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border post early Monday morning as he tried to enter Benin Republic.
The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives, which Bobrisky had been trying to evade. VeryDarkMan revealed this information in a video posted on his Instagram page, stating that Bobrisky is currently being held by the Nigerian Immigration authorities.
This development follows recent allegations made by VeryDarkMan, including the release of an audio recording where Bobrisky claimed to have bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop a money laundering charge against him. In the same audio, Bobrisky also alleged that he did not serve his six-month jail sentence in Kirikiri prison due to the intervention of his influential godfather and the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa.
However, an investigative panel set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has found no evidence to support Bobrisky’s claim of not serving his jail term in prison. The panel reported that Bobrisky completed his six-month imprisonment from April 12 to August 5, 2024, within the prison walls.
