ASUU Don Give FG 14-Days Warning to Fix Una Education Matter

Abuja, Nigeria – The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don structure one serious gbege as dem issue 14-days ultimatum to Federal Government. Dem want make una take action wey go tackle the long-standing wahala wey dey affect Nigeria university system or else, we go enter strike mode again.

After dem National Executive Council (NEC) meeting wey happen for Yakubu Gowon University, ASUU president, Professor Christopher Piwuna, talk say dem don tire for the continuous neglect wey dem dey face from both federal and state governments. E also make clear say if dem no see any serious movement within 14 days, dem no go get choice than to start with a two-week warning strike before dem fit lock down the entire system indefinitely.

According to Mr. Piwuna, dem don do everything possible to communicate their frustrations through media engagement, campus rallies and even sweet talks for the past three months, but na only blank stares dem dey receive from the government side. Some of the issues wey dem dey vex about include no payment of salary arrears, no clarity on the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement, and various promotion issues wey don dey stick like bad luck for four years now.

Dem also reason say the government dey hold down third-party deductions like check-off dues and cooperative contributions. People wey dey rant about victimization for LASU, KSU and FUTO join the concerns wey ASUU bring to the table. Dem call on all Nigerians—parents, students, religious leaders, and traditional stakeholders—to pressure the government to act, because the warning don show say wahala fit burst if dem no act fast.

“This 14-days ultimatum na alarm to the Nigerian government,” Piwuna talk. “We sabi say government fit do this work if dem wan because budget dey.” He end am with this quote wey sharp like arrow: “A stitch in time saves nine.” (E be like say dem don open new level of gidi gidi for education matter.)
