OGUN STATE, NIGERIA — At least 25 people don lose their lives for Ogun State when two separate multiple accidents happen on Saturday, April 5, 2025. This tragic incidents include one where seven people die as a result of a truck crashing into two other vehicles.
The first accident waka for the Lagos-Ibadan expressway around 7 a.m., involving three vehicles: one Mack truck with registration number SEY 363 YY, one tanker (T2900LA), and one yellow bus (LSD 180 YA). According to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson Florence Okpe, the crash happen because the Mack truck driver dey accelerate too much, leading to loss of control.
Florence Okpe talk say, “Total of 15 people dey involved for this crash: 13 men, 2 women, with 7 people dead, 6 men and 1 woman. Four persons injured, including 3 men and 1 woman. Accident cause na excessive speed on the part of truck driver.”
The injured persons were rushed to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo, while the bodies of the deceased don carry go Idera morgue for Sagamu. The vehicles wey crash don tow off for road to allow traffic flow smoothly again.
Later in the day, around 4 p.m., another bizarre accident occur for Mosimi area of Sagamu-Ikorodu Road. This time, a faulty brake caused one car to ram into a rescue team wey dey clear the earlier accident. Dis second crash involve seven vehicles, killing 18 people and injuring 4.
According to Okpe, “22 people join for dis crash, including 14 men, 6 women and one child. 18 persons, including one FRSC personnel, don lose their lives due to the incident.”
Vehicles involved for this crash na: AGL752YC (Toyota Hiace bus), T14007LA (Daf truck), HT680 (Honda car), and others without registration. The injured victims take go Dasochris Hospital for Gbaga, while the dead bodies don deposit for OOUTH.
Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin express him sorrow for the reckless way some drivers dey behave, leading to the high number of accidents for Saturday. He advise motorists make dem drive within the speed limits and respect traffic signs.
Fasakin talk say, “We dey see too many crashes wey happen. E go better make all drivers dey cautious and obey road rules. E go help reduce di number of casualties.”
As the investigation continue, the FRSC dey urge all road users to dey careful and avoid speeding, especially as we dey enter busy periods for the roads. This recent incidents don raise serious concerns about road safety in Nigeria.
