Senators for the Nigerian Senate don pass unanimous vote of confidence for the leadership of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. This vote happen after social media reports say some aggrieved senators from the North plan to impeach am.
The vote of confidence follow motion by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi from Kebbi North, who rise under Orders 10 and 42 of the Senate standing rules to address the issue. Abdullahi emphasize say the report of impeachment plot by northern senators be fake news and call for unity among the senators.
Senator Abdul Ningi from Bauchi Central also move the motion for the vote of confidence in Akpabio and the entire Senate leadership. Other senators like Ismaila Kawu from Kano South and Minority Leader, Abba Moro from Benue South, support the motion. When the motion be put to a voice vote, majority of the senators support it.
Akpabio thank the senators for their support and promise to uphold the trust they place in him and his leadership. He say, “No amount of people, no social media will come here to break that bond. I thank you for this, and we are very humbled.”
The vote of confidence clear the air on the stability of the Senate leadership after the fake news of impeachment plot surface on social media.
