Nigeria dey set to boost im oil production with a new FPSO project, according to Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri. The project involve the upgrade of FPSO Tamara Nanaye, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel, which dey happen at Laudo yard in Apapa, Lagos.
Lokpobiri say dis project go increase Nigeria’s oil production by 40,000 barrels per day and 50 million standard cubic feet of gas. He commend the stakeholders involved, including Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and private sector partners like WAEP Century Group, Dangote Industries, and Access Bank.
The FPSO Tamara Nanaye, originally designed for deep water operations in Australia, was brought to Nigeria in 2016 and deployed to OML 113. Now, significant upgrades dey made to its topsides, hull for structural integrity and mooring system so it can operate in the shallow waters of Kalaekule field in OML 71/72.
The Chief Executive Officer of Century Group, Ken Etete, describe the project as a landmark achievement for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector because it dey executed almost entirely with local resources. He say dis in-country upgrade not only benefit the economy but also increase the skill set of Nigerian workforce.
The project expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025, and it go significantly enhance Nigeria’s oil output. Lokpobiri emphasize that dis kind of investment in local capacity crucial for achieving the goal of boosting oil production to over 2 million barrels per day.
