US Forces Bomb ISIS Camps for Syria, No Civilian Casualties

US forces don conduct series of airstrikes against multiple ISIS camps in Syria, according to reports from US Central Command. The airstrikes, which happen on Friday, October 11, aim to disrupt ISIS ability to plan, organize, and conduct attacks against the United States, its allies, partners, and civilians in the region and beyond.

The US military say the operation no cause any civilian casualties, and battle damage assessments are still ongoing. This latest action come after recent successes where US forces and their allies kill senior IS commanders and other militants in the region.

Currently, about 900 US troops dey deployed in eastern Syria, working alongside the US-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces. These forces have been instrumental in the fight against IS militants, who at their peak control large areas of Iraq and Syria but were defeated in Iraq in 2017 and lost their last territory in eastern Syria in March 2019.

Despite their defeat, IS sleeper cells continue to carry out attacks in Iraq and Syria, causing significant harm. The US military and their allies continue to work tirelessly to prevent any comeback by the extremist group.

The airstrikes also follow recent strikes in September where US forces kill 37 militants, including members of IS and an al-Qaeda affiliate group. These actions demonstrate the ongoing commitment of the US to combat terrorism in the region.
