Lagos-Ibadan expressway: FRSC announce temporary diversion for gantry installation

Motorists wey dey use Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for Ogun State side, make una prepare for small traffic wahala as authorities don begin install safety warning gantries for bridges along the road.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State Sector Command, tok say the diversion na part of ongoing infrastructure work wey Federal Ministry of Works dey do with Buildwell Construction Company.

FRSC explain say construction don start for the first bridge wey dey near Mountain Top University at Kilometer 13, before Ibafo. The most intensive phase of the installation go happen on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The statement say: ā€œThe Federal Ministry of Works, through Buildwell Construction Company, is undertaking the installation of warning gantries in front of bridges along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The installation process at the first bridge located in front of Mountain Top University (KM 13), before Ibafo, has commenced and is expected to reach its peak on Thursday, 25 June 2026.ā€

To make sure road users and construction workers dey safe during the operation, the corps don put temporary diversion plan for light and medium-sized vehicles wey dey go Ibadan. Under the arrangement, motorists wey dey drive cars, buses, pickup vans and mini trucks go redirect through alternative routes before dem reconnect to the expressway.

ā€œCars, buses, pickup vans and mini trucks will be diverted through the Magboro Under-Bridge to Ibafo and subsequently rejoined to the expressway at the NASFAT U-turn,ā€ the statement note.

FRSC further explain say articulated vehicles go be temporarily restricted from passing through the affected section while installation work dey go on. The diversion exercise go last for approximately one hour.

Road users wey dem urge to remain patient and comply with traffic control measures wey dem introduce for the duration of the operation. ā€œMotorists are advised to exercise patience, obey all traffic regulations, and strictly follow the directions of FRSC personnel and other traffic management officials deployed to the area,ā€ the statement say.

While FRSC apologise for any inconvenience the diversion fit cause, the corps stress say the temporary measure na necessary thing to facilitate critical safety improvements and enhance infrastructure along one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors.
