Remo Stars and Kano Pillars win big for survival fight for NPFL

Naija Premier Football League (NPFL) don show serious action for matchday 31 as two big teams wey dey fight relegation, Remo Stars and Kano Pillars, win crucial matches to improve their chances to remain for top division. The results don shake up the table well well as the season dey near end.

For Ikenne, Remo Stars come from behind to beat Kwara United 3-1 inside one tense match. Kwara United take lead first for 34th minute when Ibrahim Yahaya score from Junior Aimufua assist. But Remo Stars reply quick as Ahmed Akinyele equalize just four minutes later. Kwara United get chance to go ahead again before half-time when dem get penalty, but Ini Emmanuel Okon miss am, so the first half end 1-1.

For second half, Remo Stars take control with two quick goals. Haruna Hadi score for 70th minute, and Victor Mbaoma add another one just three minutes later to seal the comeback victory. This win lift Remo Stars from 19th position to 18th on the table with 36 points, while Kwara United fall to bottom with 33 points.

For Kano, Pillars secure 2-0 win over Enyimba to move further away from relegation zone. Chiedozie Okorie open scoring for 11th minute, and former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa double the advantage just before half-time. The victory move Pillars up to 14th position with 39 points, while Enyimba slip to 16th with 36 points, the same as Wikki Tourist wey dey occupy the last relegation spot.

Other matches for matchday 31 also produce important results. Rangers beat El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches and temporarily move to top of table. Daniel Itodo give Rangers lead for 30th minute before Godwin Obaje seal win with second goal for 80th minute.

Katsina United edge Shooting Stars 1-0 to dent the visitors’ continental ambitions, while Plateau United record narrow 1-0 victory over Bayelsa United thanks to Farouk Umar strike for 50th minute. Warri Wolves and Bendel Insurance play goalless draw for one tight match with few clear chances.

For Owerri, Ikorodu City draw 2-2 with Kun Khalifat after conceding stoppage-time equalizer. Joseph Arumala cancel Ikorodu City opener before Folarin Temitope put Ikorodu City ahead again for 53rd minute. But Kun Khalifat get late equalizer from Uchechukwu Onuoha deep into added time after Ikorodu City reduce to 10 men when Olanrewaju Molade see red card.

The matchday action go conclude today with Niger Tornadoes facing Abia Warriors for Enyimba Stadium in Aba, while Finidi George-led Rivers United travel to Lafia City Stadium to face Nasarawa United as dem try regain early season form.
