Grange School win TASG Season 3 trophy, Obanla break high jump record

Season Three of The Athletics School Games don end for Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex with big excitement as Grange School show say dem na real champion for Naija youth athletics. The competition wey World Athletics certify see over 20 schools from Lagos participate, divide into elementary and secondary categories, and Grange School carry the trophy go house again.

For day one of the tournament, Grange School elementary pupils show serious talent as dem collect highest points to win their category. The small pikin dem run, jump, and throw pass their mates from other schools, make dem begin dey eye the main trophy from early.

Day two come bring more tension as Grange School, Riverbank School, and International School Lagos (ISL) dey compete for the overall championship. Grange start well for field events and finish strong for track events to carry the trophy. Riverbank School come second, while ISL follow for third position.

The biggest moment for the final day come from ISL athlete wey dem call Ehuwa Obanla. This young boy jump 1.95 meters for high jump, break him personal best wey be 1.75 meters before, and set new tournament record. The whole stadium dey shake as athletes, parents, and spectators dey clap for am. Many people talk say this year edition na the most competitive one since TASG start.

Founder of TASG, Dr Seun Akinbohun, talk say organizing the tournament no easy because of money and facility challenges, but she promise say dem go continue to do am every year. She praise the athletes for their discipline and good performance, and reveal say some of the talents wey dem discover don already enter national team.

“We don see plenty wonderful things for this tournament,” Dr Akinbohun talk. “Records don break from high jump to relays and throws. We thank God for the journey so far, and we thank parents, athletes, schools, coaches, sponsors, and partners. We dey look forward to welcome more schools next year, and we dey happy about TASG Relays wey go hold for May.”

With Grange School dey show say dem na Nigeria athletics powerhouse and Obanla record-setting jump dey inspire young talents, TASG Season 3 don raise the standard for youth athletics for Lagos. Over 317 athletes participate for the tournament wey Lagos State Athletics Association endorse.

The tournament show say Naija youth get plenty talent for athletics. As Grange School dey celebrate their victory and Obanla dey enjoy him record-breaking achievement, everybody dey look forward to next year edition and the TASG Relays wey go come for May.
