Make we dive into the gist. Na the APC, di ruling party, wey dey hold 29 out of 36 states for Naija, don give wahala as dem reject bill wey go make electronic transmission mandatory. You go fit sabi say, the news dey hot as dem dey call Tinubu na ‘master strategist’ wey dey play political chess. But wetin happen now dey vex many people, especially with election wey dey come for 2027.
As e be now, di Senate go chop back and remove di clause wey go make electronic results transfer mandatory. Dem dey feel say, ‘Ah, if network no dey, wetin go happen?’ But my people, dis one na double wahala because we don sabi wetin happen before for 2023 election wey results take delay like say na snail dem dey carry am. Na so e clear say dem no wan see progress! Protest don start, and people dey waka enter Abuja dey demand say make dem restore di mandatory law. Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi and plenty other big names join for di protests. Na people wey dey shout for fair play.
Why dem wan make this electronic transmission matter so important? E simple! Once di votes count for polling unit, e go fit dey upload straight to di central portal. That one go clear di way for manipulation, make our votes no go turn to play like ludo. Instead, na digital process we go fit audit if any wahala show face. But now, with di Senate’s decision, dem dey push us back to manual processes wey fit allow wahala fit enter with human error and manipulation. No be wetin we need! We no go allow dem run us this time! People don tire for politicians wey just dey play games with our elections.
Na so Nigeria Labour Congress don plan mass action, wey dem dey call for everybody to join protest if dis matter no resolve sharp-sharp. APC members dey come outside dey talk say dem no dey fear because law responsibility dey for di National Assembly and INEC. But no be wetin we dey hear o! Regular Nigerians, wey sabi how Nigeria dey work, dey reason say independent no just dey for mouth. Why dem no fit agree to make election transparent and stronger?
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, don yan say dem no go fit make real-time transmission dey mandatory because network no dey everywhere. But Baba, no be wetin we dey hear? Former INEC boss, Mahmood Yakubu, don correct dat one sey di machine no go need internet for accreditation; but di results go fit come later. Despite di protest wey dey happen, di Senate never really change their mind. Di shakara wey dey now na to see if dem go fit betta way settle this wahala. Real test go be di integrity of our democracy — if our politicians wan make e grow or dem just dey fear say dem go lose power. What we want na credible democracy!
