My people! E don happen again o! Naija health workers don suspend their 84-day nationwide strike wey scatter hospitals and healthcare for plenty states. E be like say hope don come back for people wey dey complain say dem no fit access public healthcare.
Dis strike wey Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) carry come, na because dem dey vex say government no dey treat dem well. But as dem call off di strike for February 6, dem talk say make federal and state governments take their matter serious!
Dem don also shout say during di strike, plenty wahala happen like maternal and infant mortality wey rise. No be small thing o, many people don suffer and e no sweet for anybody. This one mean say di health system don get k-leg, and dem no fit work like dis again.
From di report wey PUNCH drop for February 2, hospitals wey government own don suffer plenty. Patients dey stranded like say dem no get where to go, and some don even waka go outside look for help. E be like say health facilities don turn to ghost towns!
Doctors dey complain say di strike dey affect how dem dey train new medical personnel. Patients wey suppose enter surgery since November 2025 still dey wait for their turn! Wetin be dis? Na familiar wahala again, salary no dey complete for other health workers like pharmacists and nurses, sharp divide don dey disturb everybody.
But as dem talk say dey go restructure di whole salary wahala, hope dey rekindle small. Federal Government don say dem go obey di agreements wey dem reach on February 5. But this one no mean say dem go continue dey play fast one for these health workers o!
E good make we sabi say di Federal Ministry of Health don start to carry out new measures wey go help di sector, abeg make dem continue like dis. As una dey chop di money under Medical Residency Training Fund wey dey owed, make sure say all di necessary adjustments happen sharp-sharp!
As we dey watch di government, e no go fit just dey carry committee matter come dey drag legs. We need action wey go fit solve di whole matter. As patients dey suffer like dis, e don’t make sense to dey neglect dem health workers wey dey try to help dem.
