Peter Obi Don Join Protest to Demand Say Votes Go Count

My people, e be like say wahala don dey brew again for Naija as Peter Obi, di former presidential candidate wey dey represent Labour Party, don join body with plenty protesters dem for National Assembly wey dey Abuja.

Dis protest way dem call “Occupy National Assembly” no be small matter o! E happen because di Senate wan delete di word ‘real-time’ from di electronic transmission of election results for di new Electoral Act wey dem dey amend. Nigerians dey vex as dem dey see dis one as backdoor way to rig elections for 2027.

As Obi waka enter di scene, crowd begin dey shout joy. Di Obidient Movement, civil society pipo and pro-democracy groups dey there too, holding placards wey dey display messages like “Our Votes Must Count” and “No to Electoral Robbery.” E be like say dem determine to make dia voices heard!

Security operatives dem don line up for di place, join Nigeria Police, Army, and Civil Defence. Dem no allow protesters enter di National Assembly, so dem form juju outside di gate to demonstrate. Obi no carry last; e talk say Nigeria dey slide back and say dis kind behavior by di political elite dey jeopardize di stability of di country. Na wetin e talk be say, “We must dismantle this criminality.” E call for credible elections as di way forward.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, di coordinator for di Obidient Movement Worldwide, firm say dem go continue di protest until di National Assembly restore di ‘real-time’ transmission clause. E warn say if dem no do am, no election go happen at all!

Even Randy Peters, di popular activist, no carry last. E don dey remind dem say di spirit of June 12, 1993 elections wey be di freest and fairest for Naija dey call for action. Dem don gather to chant say, “Tomorrow, we go dey back here!”

But no be only di protesters dey talk o! Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, don back di call to amend di Electoral Act. E raise alarm say if dem no fix di issue, wahala go dey as electoral disputes go continue. E dey talk say di law must clear about e-transmission because di last election show say court no buy dat one.

Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) dey shock as dem talk say di Senate dey create doubt in di electoral process with dia action. Dem encourage di National Assembly make dem no lose opportunity to enhance transparency by making e-transmission mandatory.

HURIWA follow come with di stance say dem back peaceful protest o! E dey emphasize say di people’s demand no suppose be seen as limelight against di Senate; instead, na for better governance we dey talk.” Dem no wan make di police use force against di protesters as past events don show say na serious matter.

Meanwhile, Leadership Orientation and Basic Rights Advocacy Centre (LOBRAC) dey shout say di Senate dey threaten democracy as dem no agree on di electronic transmission issue. Dem dey warn say if dis amendment no go through, di essence of democracy go dey comot for Nigeria.

Peter Obi don drop di message again for his socials, say Nigerians need to make sure sey di vote dem count this time around. E talk say all of una suppose dey watch closely di process because Naija deserve better governance.

So my people, wetin we go do now? Time don reach for us all to gather mind and make sure sey 2027 elections no go be another wahala. We go gather for di polling units, we go count di votes together, and make sure sey we dey clear say our votes go count!
