National Assembly Don Cut Recess to Discuss 2027 Presidential Election Date

Na sharp move wey dem take because lawmakers wan shift the date wey dem set for 2027 presidential election. According to wetin we hear, dem fit move the election from February 20 to February 13, 2027!

Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, don send notice wey tell all senators and members say make dem adjust their plans so that dem fit show for the important meeting.

Sources wey dey inside the National Assembly don talk say dis session no be normal meeting, e be like say dem wan settle big wahala wey concern the election date wey fall during Ramadan. One senator talk say, ‘We need to make sure say everybody fit participate well for the election irrespective of their faith.’ Dem no wan create wahala wey go stop people from voting because of religion.

Dis development come just one week after Senate don approve electronic transmission of election results but e no too dey compulsory, meaning say if network no gree, dem go use manual collation. Na serious matter, as many people dey worry how good the election go be if results no fit dey transmitted live.

Na so lawmakers for Nigeria dey try keep up with wetin people dey demand, especially with the youth wey don dey shout for better elections. As e be so, National Assembly sef dey look for way to balance tradition and technology for di upcoming polls.
