My people, e don finally happen! After 84 days wey health workers dey strike, Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) don suspend di serious action! Na after dem sit down with di Federal Government wey dem take mouth do negotiations. Many of una know say e no easy, but e be like say dem don reason am well this time.
For Abuja wey dem hold di emergency meeting, di union give order make all dem members start work from midnight today, February 6, 2026. Kabiru Minjibir, di National Chairman, talk say dem dey thank all Nigerians for di patience wey dem show during di wahala.
As una sabi, dis strike dey ground many things since November 15, 2025, wey make hospital operations turn upside down. Patients no fit see doctor, some even dey go private hospitals wey dem sabi no fit even afford. Highlight na say dis matter come because Federal Government no wan implement di updated Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS). Dem dey align am with CONMESS wey na di salary structure for doctors.
Dem even talk say during di strike, Federal Government lose N1 trillion! Na wetin we call unnecessary loss. People dey suffer and no medicine dey for public hospitals. Di bad news be say, dem sabi say two review meetings wey dem hold before na just talk, no serious action. But di last-minute meeting wey happen for February 5, e change di game.
Dem finally agree say government go open dem purse for di implementation wey dey long overdue and we go hear more news as dem introduce budget wey go cover am for di 2026 Appropriation Act. Na real relief for all of us.
JOHESU give shout-out to relevant people wey help make di peace happen, including Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker, Tajudeen Abass, among others. Dem also make am clear say no member of di union go face any wahala for participating in di strike.
But no be say dem shelve di matter, oo! If di Federal Government fail to carry out dem promises, di TUC and NLC go not consider anything wey dey happen in future. Di health workers dey ready to ensure say dis time, dem go follow up well.
